Unitrition's programme of development at the UK's top research and educational establishments means that it is continuing to evolve and manufacture market leading products for animal feeds.
A purpose built autoclaving plant at Selby processes raw materials under precise conditions of temperature and pressure. These conditions are proven to inactivate the growth inhibitors present in some raw materials, such as soya beans, whilst optimising their nutritional qualities. The process also has a major benefit in improving the bacteriological status of products.
Supersoy, produced by this process, is the country's leading full fat soya used extensively in pig, poultry and fish feed diets as well as in pet foods.
For ruminant livestock the heat treatment process substantially improves the protein quality of raw materials, thereby enhancing nutritional performance. Increasing the feed value of home grown oilseed derivatives will mean less reliance on imported feed materials by UK farmers.
Unitrition not only manufactures own branded products, but through co-operation and long term partnerships, also process materials for other companies.
